Training Philosophy

My main objective when training is building up the trust so that I can have a partner with whom I can work in all disciplines. This I do with a lot of ground work and voice training. The voice training is the basic for driving and if I can come to the point that I trust my horse than I can also drive my horse.

Driving for a Morgan is the best way to build his back muscles and it suits him very well the way he is build. When you want a well balanced horse in mind and body you have to work with the horse in doing a lot of different things. Especially a Morgan wants to be challenged and have something to think about. Sometimes I put on my riding pants and boots and then take the horse to be cleaned and I find that he needs something totally different than me, on top of him. It could just be free longing and reconnecting to my voice commands or a bit of Cavaleti work on the lunge line using just a halter so he can balance himself out.

My main goal in training horses is to get the horse and his owner to the point where they can trust each other and go anywhere on either halter, under saddle or carriage and all this without breaking the horses mind but with having him cooperate in a willing way.
